Daily Devotionals

July 15th, 2025

Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter.  We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 1 of Ephesians

Read Ephesians 1

Focus Verses: Ephesians 1:7-10 ESV

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

I love to make my children smile! To surprise them with small gifts or favorite treats and watch joy spread over their faces makes me happy. It makes me even happier to make my granddaughters, who call me Mimi, smile! It’s the reason I keep copious amounts of stickers, freeze pops, bubbles, and play-dough on hand. Last week, my youngest granddaughter, who has yet to master a lot of words, toddled over to me and pointed to her mouth while grunting and pointing at my freezer.  She especially loves freeze-pops, and I knew instantly what would make her smile.  And it made me smile too, because it was a good day to be a Mimi who says yes to freeze pops from her endless supply…at 9 am.

There isn’t a lot I wouldn’t do to be able to shower my family with good things out of the abundance of my love for them.  I don’t even mean the abundance of “things” – but the ability to show them my love in endless ways; to make sure they feel saturated with my love.

I think that is why I am drawn to the language of God’s abundance in this passage. The description of the redemption and forgiveness we have through Jesus that is according to the riches of His grace, means that God has never been stingy with His grace. He is rich in grace! He doesn’t have just enough, with no extra to spare. In fact, He lavishes it upon us! He is generous, extravagant even, with his love and grace! And as he pours out forgiveness and grace, he helps us to grow, and learn, and understand His love for us. He saturates us with the fullness of His love so that we can be a part of the story of love and restoration He is writing.
