I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
When we are faced with chaotic situations, it is often hard to know where to look. So much happens in rapid-fire succession in front of you that our minds cannot keep up. Our minds dart all over trying to find the one thing in the middle of all the chaos that we can make sense of or that can explain what is happening. In moments like those I literally feel off-balance; unsure and unsteady – shaken to the core.
Today’s verse is a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, God is steady. If we filter out the noise of the world around us spinning wildly out of control and instead fix our gaze on God – the one steady thing in the storm – we cannot be shaken. He is before us and with us. Steadying us as we go.
