Read 2 Kings 6:17 NLT

Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

There are days when our problems loom large – like a huge mountain blocking our path.  Sometimes we stand at the foot of those problems, staring up from the bottom and we are completely overwhelmed by them. The task, the relationship, the struggle seems too great to tackle and we are paralyzed at the bottom. Sometimes we find ourselves mid trek up the mountain and we see the depth below us – knowing that a fall would be devastating, and we see the great distance yet to cover, with its steep places and unsure footings – and we aren’t certain we can continue. But then there are those times when we see a problem from the top! And God gives us a glimpse of what He sees as we face that mountain. What a difference perspective makes! Our perspective changes everything! God has a different perspective of our circumstances than we do. With God, there is always more going on in the Spirit realm than meets the natural eye. We need a perspective shift in our prayer lives because once our perspective shifts we notice the incredible things that are happening. Let’s ask God to remove things that get in the way of looking at things from His perspective. Let’s declare God’s truth and ask the Lord to open our eyes.

How can prayer help you shift your perspective?

Are fear, doubt, or anxiety keeping you from seeing things from God’s perspective? What are some ways that you can overcome these barriers?
