“I give you a new command. Love one another. You must love one another, just as I have loved you. If you love one another, everyone will know you are my disciples.”
One of the things I love about my children is their love of music! To them it doesn’t matter what generation it comes from…good music is just good music. It is not uncommon to hear Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, and Tina Turner all in the same playlist as it echoes through our home. On more than one occasion we have danced to What’s Love Got to do with it? in our kitchen together. Great tune – good beat…but an even better question to ask ourselves every day! The answer is a resounding – everything!
The grace we are able to receive through the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf comes from God’s overwhelming love for you and me. It is a love that cannot be contained. It cannot be stopped and it cannot be taken away. God IS love. It is that love that should permeate everything we do and everything we say. It should fill us and overflow from us pouring out the grace we were so freely given to those around us. This is what makes a follower of Jesus different from everyone else. We are to be marked and known by an extravagant love for others in Jesus’ name. Amen and amen!
