In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.
I love the first part of our verse today – God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. I love the idea that life is just one big victory parade that we take with us everywhere we go.
But the reality is that few of us actually live that way. We allow the world to get the best of us and we forget that in Christ every battle has already been won. We often walk in defeat. Or maybe it doesn’t quite look like defeat, but we certainly don’t walk in the power that comes from knowing that there is no sin that can master us when our hearts are rooted in the salvation of Christ.
Victory is ours in Christ! Let that give you cause to celebrate. Let it echo from every step you take and every word you say. Proudly and confidently take your victory parade with you wherever you go today allowing everyone around you to be caught up in the joy and the love of our amazing God.
