Daily Devotionals

December 5th, 2023

Happy December! Christmas is on its way and we couldn’t think of a better way to ready our hearts together than by spending the whole month reading through the story of Jesus’ birth and finding some  practical ways to love others. Together, we will work through an Advent reading plan provided by LCBC Church through YouVersion. Our prayer is that as you read about the greatest story ever told, your hearts will be readied for Christ’s arrival.

Read Isaiah 7:13-14

Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Isaiah reports that God will send His Messiah through a woman who was a virgin and this Messiah will be called “Immanuel” which means “God is with us.”

Pray

Jesus was such a comfort to the people among whom He walked because it was like God was among people. The name Immanuel means “God among us” – pray through the day today that you feel God’s presence within you. Pray for opportunities for that presence to comfort the people in your life.

Practice

Call or text someone that needs your forgiveness today. Let them know that they are forgiven.
