Read:

Deuteronomy 4:29  “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Let’s consider what seeking means.

Used here in Deuteronomy it’s the Hebrew word “baqash” which, according to Strong’s Concordance, means to:

“search out (by any method; specifically in worship or prayer); by implication to strive after:- – ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure (make) request, require, seek (for).

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been guilty over time of interpreting the word “seek” along the lines of “well if something jumps out at me I’ll take notice of it.”

But what if I really did “seek” with the intent of the Hebrew word “baqash”?  What if I sought Him with all my heart and soul?

Could it be that if I searched out God; if I desired to find Him I would find him?

Good news!  God has PROMISED that if you baqash after Him you will find Him!

In fact, He makes this promise multiple times in other places in the Bible:

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬

“He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭15‬:‭2‬

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬

““Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;”  ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭25‬

This is barely scratching the surface of the promises that if we seek God we will find him.   Let’s seek Him!

Pray: “Holy Spirit, teach us to pray as David prayed: “My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.” (Psalms 27:8).  Thank you for the promise, Lord, that we will find you when we seek you with all of our heart and soul.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
