“and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” Luke 2:7
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”” Luke 2:11-12
Carol: Silent Night
The sign given to the shepherds is unexpected: a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a manger. Redemption arrives quietly, humbly, without spectacle.
Silent night, holy night… with the dawn of redeeming grace. Grace dawns not in a palace but in a feeding trough. God places salvation where anyone can approach — no credentials required.
The manger tells us that redemption is accessible. Jesus arrives in humble circumstances so no one is left out. The humility of His birth reminds us that God meets us where we are.
“Don’t leave Jesus in the manger; don’t remember Him only at Christmas. Instead, learn to walk with Him every day, as you pray and read His Word and ask Him to help you.” Billy Graham
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for coming humbly so I could come freely.
