“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.””  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭28‬-‭32‬

Carol: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

When Joseph and Mary presented the infant Jesus in the temple, Simeon held the child and saw freedom fulfilled — a light for revelation and glory. Christmas is the answer to generations of longing.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel gives voice to that waiting: “And ransom captive Israel.” Redemption is not merely emotional comfort; it is release from exile — spiritually and relationally.

Waiting does not disqualify us. Longing does not diminish faith. Christmas reveals that God responds to cries that have echoed for centuries.  What are we waiting for?

Prayer:

Redeemer God, thank You for coming to free what was bound and restore what was lost.
