December 21st, 2023

Happy December! Christmas is on its way and we couldn’t think of a better way to ready our hearts together than by spending the whole month reading through the story of Jesus’ birth and finding some  practical ways to love others. Together, we will work through an Advent reading plan provided by LCBC Church through YouVersion. Our prayer is that as you read about the greatest story ever told, your hearts will be readied for Christ’s arrival.

Read Luke 2:16-21

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

Mary sees the shepherds come in and it makes her ponder what is really happening.

Pray

Pray that you have some time today to spend extra time with God just pondering all the things that you need to treasure with God. Maybe it is this morning or sometime in the afternoon or around bedtime – but pray that God gives you some time to really soak in what the importance of this season is. Pray for time to treasure things in your heart today.

Practice

Make time to listen to someone’s story today. Be deliberate with a loved one or friend to find out what they are going through.
