Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter. We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 4 of Ephesians
Read Ephesians 4
Focus Verses: Ephesians 4:29-32
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Let these words enter your spirit and change your heart. Think about all that you are in Christ and His desires for you. Think about all He has done for you. You are cherished. You are valuable, deemed worthy of His love! Live worthy by sharing His love through kindness, compassion and forgiveness.
My prayer for us today is best relayed through the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy
O, Divine Master, grant me that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as you love
For it is in giving that we receive
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
We hope that you continue this journey with us next week as we travel through Ephesians Chapter 5. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
