Read Luke 6:43-45 NIV

“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.  Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Lord,

There are days when I wish I could retract things that I have said.  My words are not always kind.  I am short with those closest to me and sometimes I use them to cut deep.  Would you transform my heart so that each time I speak, my words reflect You and are honoring You?  I desire for my words to point others to You –  to be a picture of Your grace.  Help me to think before I speak; to remain quiet when I should and to speak up with boldness when my words have the opportunity to bring peace or hope.  Thank You for Your words that have given me hope.  Help me to be firmly rooted in You and to express that hope each day in the way I live and speak to those around me. Amen
