Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next four weeks, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
This week we will explore the themes of God’s sovereignty and the triumph of Christ.
Day 2
Read Isaiah 9:6-7 (The Prince of Peace)
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.”
Read Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Isaiah introduces us to the baby who will be born and who will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We can notice in Revelation 21:4 that, as the Prince of Peace, He will “wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away”. Each of these names of Jesus offers us a glimpse into who God is and how He cares for us. As the Prince of Peace, these verses in Revelation offer a sense of hope and longing for what is to come for those who believe and put their faith in Him!
