We can live with contentment even in the middle of crises because the strength Christ supplies is sufficient. Our needs may be great, but we can confidently expect that our God’s storehouse supply is always available to empower us. (Philippians 4:13; Isaiah 12:2-3; Isaiah 40:29-31; Isaiah 58:11) Those who trust in the Lord lack nothing. (Psalm 23:1; Psalm 34:9; Psalm 84:11)
During His earthly ministry, Jesus challenged the disciples to garner strength through prayer. (Luke 21:34-36) Crying out to the Lord helps us “stay awake” so that our hearts are not weighed down by the cares of this world. God has promised to be the strength of our heart when we feel weak and overwhelmed. (Psalm 73:26)
The Apostle Paul penned a beautiful prayer for spiritual strength that we can personalize and pray for one another:
Father, please strengthen __________ with Your power in _________ ‘s inner being, so that Christ may dwell in __________ ‘s heart through faith. May _______ be rooted and grounded in love and have strength to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of Your love. May _____ know Christ’s love that surpasses all knowledge and be filled with Your fullness. (Ephesians 3:14-19)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for equipping me with the strength I need for this day. I want to live content and trust You are always in control. Build up my inward confidence in You and help me keep the faith during adversity. In Jesus’ name, amen.
