Read Ephesians 1:17 NIV

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

Wisdom and revelation is gained through Scripture and spending time in God’s Word. In the book of John we learn that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1-4

For those who are unfamiliar with the Bible, here are a few points:

The Book of Genesis at the beginning of the Bible, in the Old Testament, provides a record of all things God created.

The Gospels in the New Testament tell of the life of Jesus (these are the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).

The  Book of Proverbs (also in the Old Testament) provides guidance and instruction for how to live, how to be a good spouse, parent and friend.

Quicker reads are New Testament letters (also called Epistles) from Paul to the faithful churches of the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and  Colossians.

In the Bible you will find there are love stories, wars and everything in between.

The Bible is just waiting to be explored. For more suggestions on where to start, ask a trusted friend or join a small group. You can also just pick up your Bible and open it. The amazing thing is there is no wrong place to start! I’d like to challenge you to find a Scripture verse and explore all that the Lord reveals to you through His Word.  I guarantee you will learn something!!
