“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?””

‭‭John‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬

On this Easter Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

That morning long ago, when Mary found the tomb empty, Jesus appeared to her.  Not realizing it was Jesus, she thought He was the gardener and that he had taken Jesus’ body away (John 20:15).

Jesus then simply called her by name, “Mary”, and she immediately recognized Him.

Jesus told Mary to go to the disciples and give them His message.

“I have seen the Lord!” she told them (v.18).

The Easter story always makes me think: how would I have reacted to meeting Jesus alive after His death?

Then I remember: I have!

But more importantly I have to ask: what do I do having met Jesus and what does His resurrection mean to me?

We’ll be meditating on this verse all week.  What do Jesus’ words about His resurrection mean to us and how, then, should we respond?

PRAY:  Father God – thank You for raising Jesus from the grave!  This week, keep me focused by Your Spirit on thinking about what Jesus’ resurrection means to me, and how I should respond daily.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
