Read John 14:6

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’

Google Maps is a modern wonder!  I am not great at finding my way around, especially in new places. I get all turned around and can’t figure out which way is north or south, and pretty quickly I can get lost.  But thankfully, I am very proficient at using Google Maps! I love that when you type in a destination it gives you the fastest route option, but if you pay attention along the way  – it will give you a heads up on alternate routes. Some routes will be labeled with “similar ETA” and others will show the additional time it would take for you to arrive at your destination, should you choose a different route.  It can be nice to have options when driving so that you may catch the scenic areas you might encounter on your trip.

But when it comes to eternity, the Bible is pretty clear that there is only one way to go – Jesus! There are no “similar ETA’s” or routes that only take a few minutes longer when it comes to our relationship with God. Sometimes the world would have us believe that there are other ways  – but those ways are bound to take us off course and land us somewhere we never intended to go. Somewhere far from God.  The scenic route when it comes to God is not a pretty sight. None of those alternative routes are actually good routes. Only Jesus gets us where we want to be – smack in the middle of God’s love and forgiveness.

Have you chosen to follow the way marked out by Jesus, afforded to us by the gift of salvation He offered to us when He gave up His life for us?  Are you tired of being rerouted on your journey down roads that don’t, and can’t lead you where you really want to go?  If you haven’t, would you consider making that choice today? And if you have, give thanks to a God who never leads you off course.
