When we arrived in Macedonia, there was no rest for us. We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside. 6 But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.
The right encouragement at just the right time can make all the difference. Paul’s words echo this truth in his letter to the Corinthians as he describes just how much Titus’ arrival meant to him. But I was reminded of it in my own life a few weeks ago as I was scrolling through my facebook memories for that particular day. In a post from several years earlier that caught my eye, there was a picture of a bouquet of flowers placed prominently on my counter and a caption thanking the friend who sent them…who couldn’t possibly know how much I needed their encouragement that day.
It meant a lot to me the day I received the flowers…but the sentiment still lingered years later and the encouragement lived on in the present moment. Funny thing is…I needed it then too. God is good like that! He places people in our lives to remind us we are so very loved – a little heavenly love with earthly skin on it. We all need it from time to time.
Today, spend some time thanking God for the people He has placed in your life who are a constant reminder of His love and an encouragement to you – and then ask Him to show you ways to BE an encouragement to those around you. You never know who might just need it today.
