Read Isaiah 1:18

‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’

A few years ago, on a day I was not particularly fond of myself, I found myself spouting off all my inadequacies to my husband. I was bogged down in yuck, unable to get past the places where I claimed to not have measured up and what I saw as complete failures.  My husband, being the wise one he is, gently scolded me and said, “Hey, don’t talk that way about my wife.” He quickly and lovingly put the matter to bed and reminded me of who I was.  Flawed, yes…but more importantly enough – both loved and forgiven.

I can almost hear the same tone in God’s voice in today’s verse as I did my husband’s that day. As if God were speaking directly to us and saying: ”Ok – let’s go back to what truth is so you don’t have to question it anymore.  Have you messed up? Sure!  But that doesn’t stop me from loving you.  My love covers it all! You are forgiven and whole – restored! Even better than brand new! So don’t talk about my child like that anymore, because you are mine!”

Let today’s verse be a reminder of just how loved you are and what God sees when He looks at you.
