Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. Life with Jesus at the center of it is a journey. A journey with the sole purpose of becoming more and more like Jesus – to become Holy. Whoa! A life in pursuit of holiness has big implications and can sound a little scary and intimidating. It necessitates repentance and surrender and a whole lot of life change! It is a continual laying down of the things that keep us from being like Jesus, but it is also the continual invitation to move forward – growing uninhibited by our past and by our sin. There is great freedom in that.
Jesus gave his life as a ransom for ours so that we could live in that freedom and not be held captive by our sins. Spend some time today in prayer giving thanks for the freedom His love provided for us and the full life taking hold of His hand leads us into.
