Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

It has taken us a while to get here…and I almost hesitate to say it outloud…but I think spring is finally here!  The trees are budded out and flowers are beginning to poke their way through the soil. Yesterday, I just stood outside for a few minutes, breathing in the smell of freshly cut grass and soaking in a little bit of sun.  After a cold, wet and brown winter, spring makes it feel like the whole world is new!  The snow and cold that kept us captive in the house all winter has let go and spring has invited us back outside as new life emerges all around us.

Alas, you and I know all too well that seasons come and seasons go and Spring can’t last forever.  It will give way to the heat of Summer and then the gradual, yet beautiful decay of Fall and all too soon be blanketed again by a Winter snow only to repeat the cycle again next year.

New life in Christ is different! We can view a relationship with Christ kind of like an eternal spring. As we surrender ourselves to God He wipes the old us away, making us new with every step we take in His direction.  We don’t need to continue in a cycle of sin  – instead we can be freed to live fully in Jesus forever.  What hope and joy that means for our lives!
