Read John 16

Jesus assures us that we CAN indeed have PEACE! This is His promise to us. He warns us that peace cannot be found in this world. Peace comes from knowing, believing, obeying, and trusting in God’s perfect plans. Peace is TRUTH. Jesus tells us that the Spirit is truth. And the truth is what sets us free. (John 8:32)

The truth is that Jesus came to this world so that we could have peace with God, to be saved from all our sins.  Jesus explains to His disciples that His time has come. “I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”(John 16:28) Jesus goes on to explain, “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. I have told you these things so that in me you will have peace.  In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:32-33)

Jesus is full of encouragement as He helps prepare His disciples for His death. Jesus says, “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you FOREVER. This is the Spirit of TRUTH.” (John 14:15-17a) You see Jesus is simply explaining that with TRUTH comes PEACE. The truth is that He came to this world to save us all from our sins, to give us a life of peace through a personal relationship with God, His Father, Our Heavenly Father. Jesus came and died so that we could have PEACE, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Jesus was not afraid, because He trusted God. He believed in His promises. Jesus was obedient because He knew the truth of His Father’s Love. He knew His purpose. The truth is that God loves us so much that he sent His One and Only Son to die for us!! You are loved! Go in peace.
