Read: Hebrews 13:20-21 NRSV
Now may the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
We are all part of the flock. The great shepherd has gathered us together and appointed us to care for the sheep, to “feed the sheep”, in his stead. Let us pick up our staves and head out into the hills to protect and care for the lambs. Our job is not to try two times and then throw up our hands in frustration when a young sheep keeps getting lost. No, we head out into the wilderness and track her down to gently pick her up and carry her back to the fold. Shepherding requires our full humility and endless patience. We give up ourselves to fully commit to the work of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
