Hebrews 13:5-6 NIV

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;

    never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.

    What can mere mortals do to me?”

The last few years have felt like one long season of change and upheaval. Our routines, our jobs, our schools…our lives… have undergone such deep changes that sometimes it has been hard to know which end was up and truth, it seems, was up for grabs depending on whoever’s voice was the loudest at the moment. Our confidence in our leaders, in technology, in kindness prevailing, in our economy,  and sometimes in ourselves was shaken.

But truth really isn’t up for grabs no matter our circumstances. Placing our confidence in anything other than God and His love for us will fall short eventually. We can find absolute truth in what God has said. The promise of today’s verses can offer us a firm place to stand when the world around us swirls in confusion. We have nothing to fear because He has promised to be our helper. When the world leaves us feeling isolated and alone…God is with us. He won’t ever leave us. When we feel dismissed and forgotten…God hasn’t left us. Put your confidence there and stand in this truth, allowing you to live and love others in the freedom His Word provides.
