And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
There are days when it is all I can do to just get myself through the day let alone worrying about anyone else! On those days, it would be easier to just put my head down and push through…only looking up as I crash through my door at the end of a long day. Today’s verse is a great reminder that although it is sometimes tempting to go through life at full speed, it is necessary for us to take time for each other. We need to slow our daily rhythms down so that we can encourage each other and lift each other up. Life isn’t always easy and the truth is, although it might seem easier on our own at times… it isn’t a whole lot of fun on our own.
God designed us to live in community with each other. To pray for one another and to encourage each other. Do you have people who fill you up and feed into your life? With whom can you be intentional about doing that? Spend some time in prayer today seeking the community God has for you and then go out there and love on them. Encourage them and lift them up! Don’t be tempted to live in isolation. Life is better together!
