You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Heavenly Father,
Sometimes just the idea of having the same attitude as Jesus in my day to day life feels overwhelming. He gave up everything for me in humble obedience to Your will. That overwhelms me because I know that I will fall short at times…and when I fall short I want to give up. In those moments will You remind me of Your great love? Remind me that it is worth it to pick myself up and try again. It is worth it because of what Jesus did for me. Keep my mind and my heart focused on what it means to live with an attitude of Christ, thinking of others and Your love not only for me…but for them. Amen.
