CROSS CREEK CHURCH PASTORAL APPRECIATION

Please join us after 2nd Service on Sunday, November 1st, as we celebrate and honor our Pastors at a Special Pastoral Appreciation Party!

We’ll come together as a Congregation to show our love and gratitude for our pastors’ faithful service, leadership and dedication.

Come enjoy some sweet treats and leave a personal message for each of our pastors immediately following 2nd Service.

Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you there!

Read Colossians 2:6-7 NLT

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Yesterday we talked about how the first part of our church’s mission statement is: “We exist to help people Know God,” that is our foundation. Today we will look at the 2nd part: Grow in Faith, Freedom, and Purpose.

I love plants and I love to garden! When I plant something new, or I start my veggies in the spring, I try to give them a boost with some fertilizer or Miracle-Gro. This helps to set them up for success. But I have to keep an eye on them. I can’t just call it good and walk away.  My plants would suffer from neglect.  I actually work really hard to make sure that my plants have what they need in order to grow to their full potential. I check for weeds in my gardens, pulling them when necessary. I also check for little pests. Often applying something like Neem oil to get rid of those pesky buggers.  I trim and prune too. And although all of those things take time and energy, they help my plants to grow and thrive. They actually free my plants to do their thing and grow as they were meant to.

The same is true for us. Here’s the thing – inviting Christ into our lives is absolutely a good thing.  But it isn’t the end of the journey; it is only the beginning.  Having Him in our lives is meant to change us so that we are more and more like Him. We are meant to GROW!  Sometimes it means digging into God’s Word so that we know Him better. It can also mean allowing God to show us things that we need to surrender to Him and change. It takes time and energy, and it isn’t always easy, but that’s what helps us thrive. When we work to grow our relationship with God, it strengthens our faith, frees us from what holds us back, and lets us really be the people God created us to be.

In what ways can you work at growing in faith, freedom, and purpose?
