The Ripple Effect of Grace

“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”  Matthew 10:7–8

What God begins in one life was never meant to end there.

We’ll recall Moses, whose sensitivity to injustice preceded his calling; the Samaritan, whose compassion crossed social boundaries; four unnamed friends whose faith made room for another; Peter, whose restoration became a calling; and Paul, who understood that received comfort could become shared comfort.

None of these people was perfect. None had complete control over the outcomes of their actions. And none was the ultimate source of the Grace they extended.

They simply became participants in something God was already doing.

Like we read in Colossians 1…the extraordinary truth is that Christ has brought us out of darkness and into His kingdom.

The concluding challenge isn’t to become someone’s savior. It is to consider what might happen if we stopped treating God’s grace as something intended primarily for our own benefit.

Rescued people rescue people. Not because they have all the answers, but because they know the One who does.

Something to prayerfully consider: Where is God moving your heart to get involved with people around you?  Do you see your life as a series of events that are happening to you or as the daily unfolding of opportunities to serve others in the name of Jesus?
