Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next few weeks, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
Day 6: A New Home for Righteousness
Read 2 Peter 3:10–13
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
What does it mean to live a holy life? Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the ways of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will know God’s perfect will.”
What does it mean to be transformed by the renewing of your mind? How will we know for sure God’s perfect Will? We need to stay connected with Him through prayer.

Hallowed be thy Name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
