Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next few weeks, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
Day 4: The Parable of the Persistent Widow
Read Luke 18:1–8
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened for you.
My daughter-in-law has a phrase she uses with my son to encourage him to speak up and advocate for himself. She very sweetly says, “if you don’t ask, the answer is no. You don’t know if you don’t ask.” Our family has witnessed her and my son both get some sweet deals after heeding this advice to simply ask.
God is just waiting to bless us! God knows the desires of our hearts. He desires justice and fair treatment and has the ability to work all things for the greater good. He delights when our hearts align, when we partner with Him to bring His goodness to earth. When we talk to Him, share what breaks our hearts, and agree to partner with Him to bring about justice. He not only listens – He draws us nearer and the blessings start flowing! This doesn’t always occur right away. In fact, often we need to wait as He aligns things perfectly to bring about the ultimate victory. Don’t give up asking, reminding God that you are still willing to partner with Him. Pour out the desires of your heart and prepare to be amazed at His goodness!
