Read: Psalm 63:1 “O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You, my whole being longs for You, in this dry and parched land where there is no water”.
David wrote these words while he was hiding from his enemies in the barren Judean Desert. He was isolated, uncertain, and far from any comfort. Yet, the wilderness revealed what his soul needed most – God Himself! David was lonely, and he cried out, “God….I thirst for you…in a dry and parched land”. He knew that God alone could satisfy his deepest longings.
Sometimes God allows wilderness seasons in our lives to strip away the distractions. It is often then that we realize that our deepest “thirst” can be satisfied by Him alone. When we are lonely or thirsty for something more meaningful and lasting in our lives, we can remember David’s prayer! God alone can satisfy our deepest longings!
Reflection: What am I longing for most right now? Could this wilderness session be inviting me to seek God more deeply?
Prayer: Lord, create in me a deeper thirst for You. Help me seek You above comfort, answers, or instant relief.
