Opening Prayer: Lord, may I walk this day confident that I am fully seen, deeply heard, and endlessly loved by God—and may that assurance overflow into the way I listen to others. Amen

1. Read Mark 10:45 NIV “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

2. Read Ephesians 5:1 NIV “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children.”

This week, we have studied the importance of being seen and heard with our communication. When we do not feel seen or heard, this can impact how we feel about ourselves and how we feel about others. It can even impact how we speak to them and how we treat them.

These verses today remind us that Jesus did not come to be served. He did not come to demand to be treated a certain way. He came to serve. One of THE most Christlike ways we can serve others is by listening. Listening is humility in action. Active listening says “Your story matters” and “Your voice is worth my time.”

To imitate God is to love like God – and God LISTENS well.

Communication in Christ isn’t about being right. It’s about being LOVING. When we can lay down our need to dominate conversations and instead choose to understand, we reflect Jesus more clearly than any argument ever could.

Truth: Listening is love expressed through humility.

Prayer: Jesus, make me an imitator of You in how I listen and love.
