“So he had the ark of the LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then the army returned to camp and spent the night there.

Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding. So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.”  ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬-‭14‬

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬

Day after day, Israel circles the same walls. Trumpets blowing, army silent.  Nothing appears to change. The city remains unmoved. The resistance remains intact.

Yet God is shaping something deeper than the situation—He is shaping the people. Repetition refines trust. It exposes impatience. It deepens dependence.

What feels like delay is often preparation. God may allow us to walk around the same obstacle longer than we want, not because He is unwilling to act, but because He is forming us for what comes next.

The long way around is rarely wasted.

Something to prayerfully ponder:  What might God be teaching you during a season that feels like you’re going nowhere?
