Strength for Service
“Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Luke 5:15-16 NIV
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Crowds pressed in on Jesus, longing for healing and teaching, yet He “often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16).
Solitude isn’t selfish—it’s where we find strength for the tasks ahead.
Just as Isaiah promised that those who wait on the Lord renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31), Jesus modeled replenishment before continuing ministry. Our own service grows lighter when we anchor it in quiet prayer.
Questions to ponder: Where do or can you go for planned time with Jesus? Do you have a favorite place?
