Read Matthew 5:14-16 ESV
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Lord,
Forgive me for the times that the light I have been given has become more about me and what I was doing and less about who created the light in the first place and what You were doing through me.
Today I am grateful for the reminder that the things we do – the way we act, the words we use, the way we live – speaks volumes. It speaks volumes about our motives and where our hearts are focused. When our focus is on You – You can’t help but get the credit and the effects are lasting. When our focus is on us – well, the recognition might be nice for a while, but it will eventually fade.
Help me to refocus on You today. Make me bold and humble me to be a light that points others to You in all that I do. Amen
