Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter.  We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 3 of Ephesians

Read: Ephesians 3:17-21 (NIV) “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Paul’s prayer culminates in an incredible vision for believers. He prays that Christ may “dwell in your hearts through faith,” making His home there. This indwelling leads to being “rooted and established in love,” providing a firm foundation for life. From this foundation, he prays that we would “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” This love is so vast it “surpasses knowledge,” yet we are called to know it experientially. The ultimate result of this deep understanding and indwelling is that we “may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”—a staggering concept of being completely permeated by God’s character and presence. The chapter concludes with a doxology, praising God who is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,” by His power working within us.

Pray: Lord Jesus, we pray that You would truly dwell in our hearts through faith. Root and establish us deeply in Your love. Grant us the power, with all Your saints, to truly grasp the immeasurable dimensions of Your love that surpasses all knowledge. Fill us, we pray, to the measure of all Your fullness. To You, who can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, be all glory, now and forever! Amen.
