Daily Devotionals

January 12th, 2025

This week we will focus on preparing our hearts for our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Each day we will focus on an aspect of prayer.  We will  ask God to soften our hearts and our minds to meet with Him and hear from Him during the 21 days we will spend in prayer together as a church.

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭22‬

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬

“You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”  ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”  ‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭9‬

In a 1944 letter to his son Christopher, J.R.R. Tolkien said,

“I fell back on simple prayers learned in boyhood, and found they were a source of grace and strength.”

As illustrated in the verses above (and in many more) as well as the quote from Tolkien, prayers need not be complicated or grand to be effective and commune with God.

What is a simple prayer that you can integrate into your daily prayer life?
