Read 2 Corinthians 9:11-13 NIV
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
For most people, giving equals sacrifice. Whether it’s time or money, usually some material thing has to be sacrificed. However, giving is really more about faith. The proof of our faith is in our giving. Using what God has given us only to meet our personal needs exhibits little faith. Our giving is evidence of what we believe in our hearts. But the really interesting thing is that living generously not only impacts and grows our own faith, but has the potential to grow the faith of others as well. Our willingness to live in generous ways is a testimony to others that we believe God loves us..and them… and that He will take care of us by meeting all of our needs. In this way we point people to God and the love and provision that comes from Him, through us, to the people around us. It allows all the glory and thanks to be given to God, making Him known in the world around us.
