Read Revelation 3:17 NIV
You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
We live in a pervading culture of self reliance and self preservation. Money, and what it can provide for us, has a big role to play in perpetuating those ideas. There is no denying that money is the primary function of the way we live, but we deceive ourselves if we buy into the lies that our finances are what sustains us and fulfills us. Every good thing that we have is provided by God’s generous hand. All the things we think we do to make a good life actually come from God. Even the talents that make us good at our jobs, for which we receive compensation, come from Him. Without His provision we have nothing. Our purpose, our wealth, our health and wholeness, and provision for our physical needs is found only in the goodness and the fullness of God.
Lord, Help me to have the right perspective when it comes to the things that sustain and fulfill me. I am grateful for Your goodness that provides for me in every way. Help me to always have a humble heart that trusts in what You can do and provide instead of relying on what I can do. I will always come up short but You love and shower me with abundance. Thank you. Amen.
