Read: Proverbs 11:25 TPT
Those who live to bless others will have blessing heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessing will be saturated with favor.
Have you ever received something from someone, and your response was, “oh you didn’t have to do that”. I certainly have. It has been a tough lesson for me to learn how to respond to this situation and why. Recently we had the opportunity to go out to dinner with our dear friends who do mission work for their community. They had intended to pay for dinner, however, prior to that night, we had decided we wanted to take them out to dinner. Here was our opportunity. With a little sneakiness, we worked out a plan with the waitress and managed to pull off paying for the meal without our friends even knowing. Their response was one of graceful gratitude, although they may also have given us the sly eye! They have labored for years trying to make a difference in their community on little income and we wanted to bless them, not only who they are but for how they listen to God’s prompting in their mission.
Being on the giving end of a blessing can feel just as wonderful as being a five-year-old on Christmas morning. In contrast, being on the receiving end of a blessing can sometimes make us uncomfortable. However, when we realize that our discomfort can prevent someone from following the prompting of the Holy Spirit to bless us, it becomes easier to be on the receiving end of a blessing.
