Read Luke 21:1-4
“As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,”he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
I just love this story! This is a perfect picture of the idea that giving is less about what we give and more about who we are. Generosity is about our lifestyle. It is a lifestyle rooted in trust. The widow in the passage trusted God completely. She opened her hands and allowed God to be in complete control of everything! I want to live a life marked by that kind of generosity and trust. Do you? What would it take for you to be willing to open up your heart and trust God fully with all that you have, holding nothing back? What are you waiting for?
