Read Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Father,
Today I come before You humbled. I admit that all too often I am guilty of giving myself more credit than I deserve. I survey my life proud of the choices that I have made that set my feet in the right direction, often completely ignoring the ones that have taken me off track. I look at the good things in my life and I want to shout, “Look at all I’ve done – all I have orchestrated!”, and I give myself a giant pat on the back. But the truth is every good thing I have, I have because of You. Every opportunity, every minute, every breath I take, I have because of the amazing grace You have shown me. Thank You for wiping my slate clean and making me new. Thank You for being the good in me. Fill me with more of Your goodness and a desire to show others the difference Your grace can make in their lives, too. Amen
