For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Lord,
As we begin this week with the question of “Why do I need the Church?”, I will admit that sometimes I think it would be easier to pursue my faith on my own. Humans are so flawed – we hurt each other and we let each other down, so it is easier on my heart to go it alone. After all, I really just need is Jesus anyway, right? But I also can’t shake the idea that You have created us to live in community with each other for a reason. So, would You wake up my heart this week? Help me to see what You see. Help me to see that, when I choose to live in authentic community with others who are seeking You, You are right there in the midst of it. And that is really what I want – more of You. Help me to see You in the people around me and embrace the idea of living and loving within Your Church. Amen.
