Correspondent: This is Day 3 of our continuing coverage on the command to love. Today we are here with Moses who is delivering The Shema. All of Israel is here waiting to hear from Moses, the man who first received the 10 commandments.
MOSES: “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. (Deuteronomy 6:4)
Correspondent: As Moses reminds Israel that the Lord is the One and only God worthy of worship, look who appears on scene, the Lord himself. Let’s listen and hear what He has to say:
GOD:
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3)
MOSES continues on:
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5)
Correspondent: We have been talking a lot about LOVE.
And what exactly is LOVE?
The Apostle Paul can explain.
PAUL:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It does not dishonor others.; it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not rejoice in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Three things will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is LOVE! (1 Corinthians 13: 13 NLT)
Correspondent: We’ve heard from Moses, God and Paul. The message is clear:
We must love God AND love others! We are even given the how-to guide. Let’s pray for application:
Dear Lord, we believe You are the One true God who loves us. We love You and are learning how to love others. Thank You for providing us with clear instructions through Your commandments, but more importantly through the relationship we have with You! We are excited to show the world the true meaning of love with You. Amen
