Jesus Prays to Be Glorified
John 17:1-5 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
After Jesus informed His disciples He would be leaving, He prepared them for what to expect and He prayed to His Father. Jesus reminds His Father that He has done all the Lord has asked. Jesus then prays to His Father asking to be glorified and to return to Him. Jesus prays for Himself.
Jesus teaches us that it is ok to pray for ourselves. God wants to hear from us and truly know the desires of our hearts. Jesus asks God to bring Him back home.
What is on your heart today?
Open up and share it all with your Heavenly Father…Dear Heavenly Father, as Your child I come to you today with a desire to serve You. Lord, while I am serving You, please remind me of the purpose for my actions. Help me to stay focused on the tasks You assign me and help me to endure any pain in the process, trusting that all is for Your glory. Thank You for all the blessings You provide along the way. Please remember the things that I hold dear to my heart, protect my family and send other believers to keep me on track, while I trust in Your greater plans. Speak, so I will listen, open my eyes to see all that You put in front of me and guide my heart with courage. Until I return to You in Heaven, help me to make the best out of my time here on Earth. Amen
