Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Imagine hiking in a dense forest, with multiple trails and no map. Proverbs 3:5-6 provides a compass, a reliable guide to lead us through the forest safely. In relation to the material things in life – this verse provides us with the assurance that God has us covered even when we can’t see through the trees.
It starts with wholehearted trust in God. It’s about acknowledging that we don’t have all the answers or control over every situation. Instead, we entrust our lives to Jesus, recognizing God’s wisdom and sovereignty.
“And lean not on your own understanding” warns us against relying solely on our limited human understanding. It encourages us to let go of our pride, biases, and preconceived notions. Instead, we embrace a humble openness to God’s wisdom and guidance.
“In all your ways submit to him”: This involves surrendering every aspect of our lives to God. It means seeking God’s will in our decisions, relationships, and plans. It’s an ongoing commitment to align our actions with biblical principles.
“And he will make your paths straight”: When we trust, refrain from relying solely on our understanding, and submit to God, our paths become clearer and more purposeful. It doesn’t necessarily mean an absence of challenges, but it implies that God will guide us toward the best outcomes, even if the way seems winding at times.

Pray: “Dear Jesus – thank You for Your provision for me. Please show me how to give cheerfully and freely what You have provided and how to use it to be of service to You and those that You’ve put in my path.
