Read Romans 5:8 NLT

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

This verse just astounds me. His love came first  – before we even knew we needed it. He gave it so freely without restriction for each and every one of us. God didn’t hold back even though He knew Jesus would suffer and that ultimately many would reject His gift of love. That, my friends, is amazing. It is a love that I have a hard time comprehending at times because that isn’t how most of us humans love. Our love often has conditions and it is reserved for a select few. In short – we are pretty stingy when it comes to spreading the love. If it costs us too much and we aren’t guaranteed to  get anything in return, we often walk away acting like we don’t even see the people who so desperately need our love.  Jesus didn’t look the other way. He saw our need and He cared so deeply for us that He let nothing stop Him from covering us with the protection of His love. Let’s seek to love like that this week. Look beyond what you see on the surface and don’t turn away from sharing the love that you have been given.
